Tom Windram & Jasmin Ould take all the top titles on offer at the Senior Closed event on Sunday following on from a great performance by the clubs young juniors the previous day.
Tom beat Chris Bartram also of Byng Hall and many times previous senior champion in the final of the men's event, Tom also won the under 21 event and the Kentish man (for Players who live north and west of the river Medway). Tom partnered by Jasmin Ould was runners up in the mixed doubles, losing to Chris & Jackie Williams in the final. Chris also went on to win the Vetts singles. Jasmin Ould won the women's event beating Jackie in the final. Tremendous results for the club yet again. Congratulations to Chumika Weerasinghe who won the U11 boys title and Ruth Marsden who won the U15 girls and U18 Girls Category II titles. Chumika was also runner up in the U13 boys event. Chumika and Ruth were ably supported by many of our other junior and cadet players including Becky Hancock (Runner Up in the U18 Girls), Isabel Webb (Runner Up in the U11 Girls), plus George Sainsbury, Luke Marsden, Noah and Oscar Csillag and Ben Gentry. It was great to see so many of our players at the Kent Closed this year and there were some great performances from all the players during the event.
It would be fair to say that Dan had a good weekend.
Results Junior Team event Partnered with Jack Mills from Jersey they won the Round Robin event. Nothing much to say other than Jack only won one match. Senior Team event. Partnered with Matt Ware they won this event. Their best win being in the final against Damien Nichols and Craig Gascoyne. They won 3-0 with Dan beating Damien 3-0. A bit of a surprise as Matt is recovering from a knee operation and is not supposed to play until December. Dan won all the doubles matches in the team events. Under 21’s This was not very strong and Dan beat Jorden Wykes, from Jersey, 3-0 in the final. Band 1 This was stronger. Dan was number 1 seed but David Arrowsmith and Ryan Owens were in the Round Robin group. He beat David easily, but had a 3-2 win over Ryan, taking the title. Men’s singles. Dan lost his only match of the tournament in the semi final against Danny Reed 3-0, after beating Craig Gascoyne comfortably 3-0 in the previous round. By John Standing Jack and Josh proudly holding up the £200 cheque they won for competing in the prestigious Byng Hall super league in it's 12th year since inception. Their team aptly named the Bennetts remained unbeaten in 14 matches against some of the best players in Kent and Sussex which make up the 8 teams in the division. Romano's were 2nd, whose team consisted of Mark Romano & James Smith, followed by TJ Topspin Jasmin Ould & Tom Windram in 3rd place just 4 points behind, receiving £120 & £80 cheques respectively.

Another tense match (for the parents!) at the regional qualifiers of the U11-U14 nationals. Regional qualifications for this national event were held at Byng Hall the weekend of the 5/6 April.
