Thursday 17 December was our annual Byng Christmas Party. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it a another great evening. The younger members certainly enjoyed it!
Ruth played for Kent Juniors the weekend of 28/29 November. Fierce competition sadly left Kent propping up the bottom of league at the end of the first weekend. The final weekend is at the end of February.
Isabel Webb aged 11 took part in the Cadet singles U15 where she had a tough group in Amelia Chan (Mi) Seeded 2 (England No 8 Cadet) and Gemma Ker (DV) (England No 5 U13). Although no victories she played well in taking a set of Amelia Chan and leading at one stage 10-8 in the fourth she could not convert. Great experience against the much older opposition
Outstanding performances from the 3 Byng Hall teams, finishing in the top three slots after the first round of matches. Its early days, but indications are very encouraging. The girls have shown the boys that they are a force to be reckoned with, Scarlett O'Neil from Medway and our own Nicola Dawson ending the day unbeaten. All is still to play for, the next round is due in just two weeks time where they will be further tested on the 29th November.
Nine players competed in the first weekend of Women's British League at the University of the West Of England in Bristol on the weekend of 10/11 October. We'll post more details when we have them,
I have had many parents and players requesting new club shirts, and to that end, as the current shirts we have will be out of print this October it seems sensible to go for a new shirt, please see above! as our club colours are red and to keep consistent for team events so that the older versions can still be worn I have opted for the Conquer in Red obviously. I will give more details later for inclusive printed prices.
Isabel defied her England ranking and played out of her skin at the National Championship at Sheffield 7th June. In the Under 11 events she defeated with ease the number 4 seed (U13 No 24 in England) Holly Smithson (DV) with 357 ranking points 11-2, 11-8 and 11-4. This was done with great attacking play forehand and backhand top spin rallies. This enabled her to top her group. It did not stop there in Round 1 she then defeated Aliza Khaliq (Y) 3-0 to move into the Quarter Finals where she eventually lost to Sophie Rinnhofer in 3 close games. In the Under 12 events she defeated Aliza Khaliq 3-1 and was narrowly lost against Gemma Kerr (DV) 3-1 (U13 No 23 in England). Great performance from Isabel from much higher ranked opponents.
Noah had his first outing at the championship and played very well in a tough group where he picked up a great win 3-1 against Luca Pontone (DU) |
