Steve New having been triumphant in Super League partnered with Chris Hall who also won the WKTTA closed Tournament Open singles event. Steve then cleans up by taking the WKTTA most improved player award for the second year running. Congratulations Steve!!
Inter-Regional Finals – Arena Sports Kettering 3rd & 4th June
Competition Report With many of the top England ranked players on show at all age groups this tournament was of a very high standard and a great opportunity for everyone to showcase their skills. Over 250 competitors playing in a 24 table venue Day 1 – Team Event Alison Webb teamed up with Emily Cheung to represent the South East in the Girls U11 Team Event. She played 4 rounds against teams from South West, East Midlands and North West. Although no overall match wins for the South East she secured 3 games through great top spin play on her forehand. She also teamed up with Emily to win 2 doubles wins. Great partnership. Isabel Webb teamed up with Abbie Hurley and Saskia Key and Lucy Adams to represent the South East in the Girls U13 Team Event. Although no overall match results for the South East Isabel secured 2 wins and Abbie 1 win including Isabel’s superb 3-1 win against higher ranked Sophie Rinnhoffer from West Midlands who she had lost against in her last 2 encounters. It should be noted that Isabel went down fighting throughout the day losing 3-2 on no fewer than 3 occasions including the no 2 seed Kirsty Maull from West Midlands and Holly Smithson seeded 6 from South West 11- 9 in the fifth. Day 2 – Singles Both Abbie and Isabel played in the U13 girls singles. Abbie had a good win against Issy Doyle from the North East winning comfortably 3.0. Isabel played Erin Richards from South West lost in another tight match 3.2 again 11.9 in the fifth and then played National School Champion Anna Green loosing 3.0 but tight games. In the U11 event Alison again took a game of Anika Bansal from Yorkshire 11.4. This event provided good match practice for both Abbie Hurley and Isabel Webb as they are due to play at the U12 & U13 National Championship 16th and 17th June. Report by Rob Webb

U11 Girls – Alison Webb won her first ever game in competition play against Emily Cheung 11-4 and qualified for Kettering U11 Boys - Following a great run in NCL Matthew Davis made his debut in the regionals, playing in the U11 boys and playing superbly with a great win in his first regional competition. One to watch? U13 Girls - This was a round robin event of 6 players of which Isabel Webb took the prize of regional champion on count back with Saskia Keys taking 2nd spot and Abbie Hurley taking third. This was a competitive group with each player losing one singles match. Count back proved critical with Isabel loosing fewer legs. U13 Boys – Noah Csillag Featherstone qualified for the semi-final and secured in the process 4th spot and qualification. Great play, and very competitive. Cadet Girls – Isabel Webb managed to secure a 11-6 first game against Scarlet O’Neil but fell away in the remaining legs to lose 3.1. Isabel secured a victory over Saskia Keys which was a revenge for loosing on Saturday. She finished 3rd in her group Nicola Dawson was the star of the show defeating a very experienced Joelle Bennett 3-2 on her way to the semi-final spot losing to Scarlet O’Neil in 3 tight games, Nicola went on to secure 3rd in the Junior event.
